Background
The GBP 30m Augustine House Library and Learning Resource Centre, opened in 2009, provides a wide range of facilities, mixing physical resources with learning spaces to support a variety of study needs.
The User Experience Team is responsible
for front line and circulation service delivery, including service desks, managing
the study environment, leading the development of promotional and marketing activities, supporting and leading student engagement initiatives and student orientation programmes.
This is an exciting 12 month maternity cover for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and customer focused individual to join the Library and Learning Resources Department as the User Experience Team Coordinator in Augustine House (Canterbury Campus).
The Role
This post is a part-time job share post, 0.5FTE, working Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
This post is fixed term for one year (maternity cover).
This appointment is for a fixed term period to cover maternity leave and therefore service with the University will end when the person on maternity leave returns to work.
You will co-ordinate the daily operational services provided by the User Experience Team, organising the staff rota and shift patterns to ensure that the face-to-face and remote support is in place and appropriately staffed at all times You will be responsible for the supervision, support and performance management of the Library and Information Advisers and Library and Information Student Associates, including recruitment, training, professional development, to ensure the delivery of an excellent level of service.
Under the guidance of the User Experience Team Manager, you will contribute to revising and developing processes and services to ensure that they are efficient and robust and meet users' needs and expectations.
You will be taking the functional lead to oversee the development, planning and implementation of the orientation programme, coordinate content across both generic and subject specific orientation activities and work in partnership with the University Orientation team.
Requirements
You will be forward thinking with a passion for supporting inclusive and engaging library services.
You will have experience of working in a library or information environment, providing customer support service, of supervising a range of staff, and implementing plans or reviewing services.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) skills coupled with well-developed problem solving skills and the ability to lead staff through change.
The selection process will include a competency based interview panel, a group discussion, an interaction-based scenario and an in-tray exercise.
