The School of Humanities and Educational Studies seeks to appoint a Technical Instructor in Archaeology to contribute to the delivery and the development of our undergraduate curriculum. Archaeological practice is an integral part of our existing BA (Hons) Archaeology, which has very recently gained accreditation with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) and UAUK. The ideal candidate would have relevant experience to take on responsibility for training in archaeological practice, and coordinate the two fieldwork modules, which includes in-term and summer collaboration with the Culver Archaeological Project. They would also be instrumental in the successful implementation of a more inclusive curriculum by devising alternative fieldwork arrangements for those students who need them. They will bring to fruition the ongoing development of the field school as a standalone course for the international market, and manage its recruitment and running in due course.
The postholder would further make a contribution to teaching Archaeological Skills and lead on the development of employability / partnership opportunities (including a Graduate Scheme) with local and regional external organizations. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a sense of initiative, creativity and judgment in applying appropriate approaches to teaching and learning support and other scholarly activities.
Relevant specialist knowledge in Archaeology and relevant professional experience are essential requirements. Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeology would be advantageous.
