Schools Support Officer
Job description
Full-time
Fixed-term until 31 July 2020
Background
The Kent and Medway Progression Federation comprises a collaboration of schools, further education partnerships, universities and local authority working together to ensure that bright young people from the most deprived backgrounds are supported as they progress to higher
education level (from this
point forward referred to by the acronym KMPF). The Federation is currently committed to collaborative work until July 2020 with the aspiration to continue beyond this. The Federation also has oversight of the Kent and Medway Collaborative Outreach Programme (KaMCOP).
The Role
You will be part of a small central team that works to support the Federation. As you will be the main point of contact for our school partners you will be expected to develop strong and positive working relationships with them and also with our colleagues working in our partner universities, so you will be a clear and empathetic communicator. Reporting to the KMPF Schools Manager, your responsibilities will include supporting and advising our school progression mentors; liaising with colleagues in ensuring that specialist queries are dealt with by the appropriate member of the Support Team; arranging meetings and other events for the Schools Manager, and acting as deputy to her where appropriate. The role will involve significant travel to visit colleagues in partner schools across Kent and Medway.
The Person
The post holder will have a degree, or an equivalent qualification and ideally have had previous experience working in school settings. Experience of working within a collaborative project or with a broad range of partners or organisations is essential. The post holder will enjoy developing and sustaining strong working relationships. Flexibility, a calm disposition and a positive attitude to solving problems are important, as is the ability to work comfortably as a member of a highly focussed team of committed colleagues.
Additional Information
This post is fixed term until 31 July 2020.
This post comes with excellent benefits including a 17.5% Employer contribution pension scheme, as well as discounts for private health care (BUPA) and many stores, restaurants and health clubs in the area. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work in an enthusiastic, vibrant and friendly department.
